Abstract

Background. Preadult age is characterized by the completion of growth processes and the final formation of morphofunctional components of the body basic systems. The literature does not contain data of the research of regional characteristics of body parameters and physical development of preadult aged girls of the Republic of Mordovia. In this regard, the purpose of this research was to study anthropometric indicators of physical development and component composition of the presentday girls’ body of the Republic of Mordovia in comparison with the youth of other regions of the Russian Federation.
Materials and methods. The object of the research served of 1648 female students of Ogarev Mordovia State University at the age of 17–20 years old, born and permanently living in the region of the Republic of Mordovia. Anthropometric examination was carried out, according to the method of V.V. Bunak (1941), using a standard set of anthropometric instruments.
Results. A comparative characteristic of anthropometric indicators of girls of the Republic of Mordovia with representatives of other regions of the Russian Federation. It was found that the majority of preadult-aged girls of the Republic of Mordovia have proportional chest development, lack of excess body weight, average body density, mesomorphic body type with proportional body development, normal bone component mass and somewhat high mass of fat and muscle components. The revealed inversion and dysplasia of sexual dimorphism in female students is probably a consequence of the response of a more labile female body to the negative effects of environmental and social factors.
Conclusion. The data obtained can be used in the preparation of normative documents, standards for the physical development of preadult-aged girls, as well as in the development of health programs for women of childbearing age in the Republic of Mordovia.
